IV. 💟Remember: Language can be Literal or Figurative
A. Literal = It means exactly what it says. Example: Julia scares easily. She screams loudly too.
B. Figurative = Use language creatively and what you say has a deeper meaning, not literal. Example: That girl is a scaredy-cat. She screams, “AAAHHH!”
Figures of speech include: Alliteration, idiom, hyperbole, metaphor, personification, simile and onomatopoeia.
💜Practice identifying as SIMILE or METAPHOR; they both compare 2 different things but while METAPHOR is a DIRECT comparison, SIMILE uses key words, mostly LIKE or AS: https://wordwall.net/resource/76350684
